The Gala of the International Quality Awards for Extra Virgin Olive Oil EVOOLEUM Awards

By UncategorizedNo Comments

In a scenario and in a campaign as atypical as the current ones, what is differentiating you from the rest of the companies in your segment?

In the 35 years that I have been in this sector, I do not remember a campaign as atypical as that of 2022/23, in which the shortage of olives not only affected Spain, but also Portugal. A situation so generic that I hope it is exceptional, although we should not take this exception as the norm. For our part, and always looking out for the producers, we try at all costs to ensure that their equipment, no matter how many years they have been working, continues to operate at full capacity with the lowest possible expense. In this way, we collaborate with professionals in these times when their income has decreased. This has always been, and continues to be, our commitment to our clients. We have launched a new, more economical and compact packaging machine. Faced with these abnormal situations, we must adapt, without making sudden maneuvers that deviate us from the line that past time guides us.

What solutions and/or products are you offering producers to adapt to this situation?

For our part, we have launched a new, more economical and compact packaging machine. In addition, we have incorporated the ECO function to our packaging machine, which considerably reduces energy consumption. And finally, as we have always done, we continue to maintain free telephone technical service for all our customers.

Many producers are hopeful for the next campaign, hoping to return to the usual production figures and even surpass them due to the new olive grove that is entering in production . Do you share this opinion? What perception do you have of the short-term future?

Nature knows how to adapt and although it is expected that the next campaign will not be a production record, in many areas the situation will have normalized. On the other hand, I think it will be compensated by the exponential increase in production of the still young olive trees recently planted throughout the peninsula.

The Gala of the International Quality Awards for Extra Virgin Olive Oil EVOOLEUM Awards, held on January 16, once again claimed itself as the great world festival of extra virgin and a well-deserved tribute to producers from around the world. The event was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, and prominent national and international producers from countries such as Italy, Brazil, Croatia, Lebanon, Israel and China. Now it is possible to immerse yourself in the event of the year thanks to the video that EVOOLEUM has released and which you can see below.

Vicente Carot, manager of AUTELEC, and Joaquin Reyes, olive oil ambassador.

In this new interview to find out the opinion of the suppliers in the sector we speak with Vicente Carot, manager of AUTELEC Technology.

AUTELEC Technology: efficiency, ecology, durability and savings

By Autelec NewsNo Comments

One more edition, AUTELEC Tecnología will attend the International Olive Oil and Related Industries Fair with its own stand to show its packaging equipment and electronic engineering solutions at the service of the olive oil sector. In its eagerness to improve its equipment, following its line of manufacturing robust and durable products that also stand out for their energy efficiency, the Valencian company will present its new packaging machine, the DL-295 model, at Expoliva 2023.

With 44 years of presence in the market, AUTELEC Tecnología is an electronic engineering company dedicated to the design and manufacture of equipment and machinery applied to the agri-food industry and specialized in the food sector. olive oil that enjoys a well-deserved prestige thanks to the quality, innovation and reliability of its equipment, designed to last over time. In 2023, the Valencian firm celebrates a decade since it moved to its current headquarters in the town of La Pobla de Vallbona. A new stage marked by generational change and sustained growth, without losing sight of its main hallmarks and always maintaining close contact with the numerous customers who throughout all these years have placed their trust in the brand.

Vicente Carot, manager of AUTELEC Tecnología, remembers that “we have been loyal to Expoliva since those first editions that were held in the military installations, at the entrance to Jaén. For us Expoliva is the fair par excellence of the olive sector and represents an excellent opportunity to meet again with our friends and clients, as well as the best showcase to present our products and new developments.”

Once the pandemic is over, Carot considers that the XXI edition of the International Olive Oil and Related Industries Fair represents the definitive return to normality and is convinced that Expoliva 2023 “will mean a before and after.”

Energy efficiency, durability and maintenance

The company will take advantage of the celebration of this edition to launch a renewed version of the DL-294 Plus packaging machine, the new DL-295, with which the Valencian firm is committed to improving its energy efficiency as a priority objective. “We live in times where the incessant rise in energy is becoming a very important part of the production cost – says Carot – and, therefore, we made it a priority to reduce the consumption of the new DL-295. Well, we have managed to reduce it by almost 50% compared to the previous model, achieving 95% energy savings with the ECO operating mode and thus helping our customers to reduce their carbon footprint and be more efficient. energetically.” Another aspect that distinguishes the equipment designed and manufactured by AUTELEC Tecnología is, without a doubt, durability. In this regard, Vicente Carot maintains that “the planet needs durable equipment that does not have to be discarded in the short term, with adjusted maintenance and consumption. Our first packaging machines have already far exceeded 30 years of operation, thus contributing to reducing the waste caused by other machines that become obsolete in a few years, which requires their replacement, generating not only an expense that is sometimes unnecessary, but an amount of waste that, in our opinion, could be avoided or considerably reduced.”

On the other hand, the firm has always been committed to the maintenance of all its equipment, which, today, is guaranteed with all the spare parts necessary for its correct functioning. In this way, the decision to purchase a new one based solely on the modernization and improvement of its functions, and not on the obligation to replace it for reasons of planned obsolescence of the machine, is left in the hands of the client who has an old machine in use. equipment. “The simplest thing,” explains Carot, “would be to stop providing service to those equipment that has been in operation for more than 30 years, but, quite the contrary, our policy has been and continues to be to strive to continue maintaining them at full capacity, understanding that The decision to replace them should always rest with the owner and not the manufacturer. Thus, each client can assess their situation and resources to make the decision to acquire or maintain their equipment. We understand that other brands, due to their structure, cannot continue supporting their equipment, their obsolescence not always being intentional, but forced by external elements.”

With the launch of its new DL-295 packaging machine, the Valencian firm is committed to improving energy efficiency as a priority objective

In this sense, at AUTELEC Tecnología they have always opted for having total control of their products, “which allows us not only to maintain them for many years, but also to be able to integrate improvements and updates to older equipment.”

The company has national suppliers that provide greater security of supply, in addition to helping to keep the industrial fabric active. For all this, it seems essential that the effort to continue providing service to all your equipment, regardless of how old it is, corresponds to good maintenance of the same, “since many times the situation of the machines could be improved with a few simple tips and instructions, so we always recommend that you contact us. We have a free telephone technical service that will clarify any questions you may have. Furthermore, our R&D Department is in charge of offering different solutions to our clients and advising them on their needs, sometimes creating personalized equipment,” concludes the manager of AUTELEC Tecnología, who encourages you to visit stand F-4 of the Interior Pavilion. “to be able to check first-hand the operation of the new DL-295 filling oil, as we have done in all previous editions.”

Virgin olive oil helps protect the arteries

By Olive oil and healthNo Comments

virgin olive oil has several virtues, including containing compounds that help our health. A study by the University of Córdoba (UCO) at the Maimónides Institute for Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC) and the Reina Sofía University Hospital in Córdoba has revealed new benefits of virgin olive oil in our body.

Starting the day with this product streamlines the lining of the arteries, helping to prevent inflammation, which gives rise to possible cardiovascular problems in the future.

These studies seek to know the anti-inflammatory effects of virgin olive oil. To carry out this study, it was evaluated whether a diet rich in virgin olive oil reported more benefits for the body than one in which olive oil with a refined percentage was used.

Thanks to this study, a great difference could be observed between consuming virgin olive oil and refined oil. It was found that those who consumed virgin olive oil had more protected cells against inflammation.

“Inflammation is a reaction of the cell to a situation of oxidative stress. If it does not react to agents called reactive oxygen species, the cell runs the risk of dying, for which reason it triggers a series of defense mechanisms that lead it, in ultimately, to catch fire,” says Francisco Pérez Jiménez, a professor at the UCO. This inflammation is not very healthy, as it causes the cells in the arteries to swell, leading to possible heart problems such as atherosclerosis.

The researchers maintain that these studies are much better carried out in humans, since rats can achieve very good results in the laboratory but later this may or may not be transferred to human reality.

Phenolic compounds, in addition to having anti-inflammatory properties, also have antioxidant and antitumor properties. Researchers are very interested in knowing if these properties only act at the cellular level or if they can really help a whole digestive level.
